Sunnyside is the historic home of Washington Irvine, famed writer of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and “Rip Van Winkle.” The scenically located grounds are open to visitors for guided tours, and are also said to be haunted by Irvine as well as his nieces and nephews. The nieces are said to tidy up the museum after closing time.
