Marymount College in Tarrytown was originally an independent girl’s boarding school built in 1907 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. In 1924 it became one of the first US women’s colleges to offer a study abroad program. In 2002 the college consolidated with Fordham University, but just five years later Fordham sold it to EF Academy. Rumor has it that the campus is still haunted by the college’s founders Father Gailhac and Mother Butler. There have also been reports of beds shaking in the Gailhac and Gerard Halls and evil spirits lurking in one of the parking lots. Supposedly they are the ghosts of people who lived in a house that was torn down 100 years before the college was built.

  • Gailhac Hall hauntings

I was a Psychology major living in Gailhac hall Room 404. I studied at Marymount from 1982 to 1986. I witnessed apparitions of a female in a white poet like dress walking down the hall only to disappear into the wall. This happened on two occasions and never again.

  • I saw plenty!

Back in 1988-1989 I lived in Gailhac, and I saw and heard plenty! I used the Ouija board to communicate and while some were able to validate information from skeptics, while they were NOT touching the board, others caused a little havoc, like making people do things without realization. The Butler Dome had a lot of activity.

  • creepy Experience

My name is Virginia and I was an English student there, I did a summer course 2009. One night I stayed connected to the internet in the hall until 2AM, suddenly I felt very cold and a strange feeling that someone was there. I was scared and went to my dorm, I didn't want to turn on the light because my other roommates were already asleep. I couldn't sleep because I felt that something evil was in the room, and then I heard a horrible guttural voice (I don't think it's from this world) whispered in my ear "GIVE ME YOUR SOUL." I got out of bed and started running down the hall without knowing where I was going, suddenly I thought about going up to the next floor where i had other friends and when I tried to climb the stairs, I stopped because I heard someone coming down the stairs and suddenly stopped, there I heard the disconsolate cry of a woman. I ran back down the hall and found other stairs where I was finally able to get to the next floor and find my friends who calm me down because I was in shock for several minutes. This has been one of the worst paranormal experiences I have ever had.
