The New York State Capitol Building in Albany is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of spirits who walk its halls at night. One ghost is said to be the artist William Morris Hunt. Another is a night watchman who died in building fire that took place in 1911.

The Capitol Building is incredibly beautiful and offers ghost tours in October. I went on a ghost tour as a kid, around age 10–12. On the tour, my guide took us to our next stop. I stood there with my family and immediately smelled smoke, like something was burning. Concerned, I started whispering to my family asking if they smelled it, but they quietly told me they didn't smell anything. The guide told us his next story: it turns out we were at the place where the night watchman died in a fire.
