This state park was once the estate of a wealthy merchant by the name of J. Neale Plumb. Mr. Plumb committed murder on Alexander Masterton, Jr. by shooting him five times when there was conflict between the two. Mr. Plumb believed Mr. Masterton, Jr. was the cause of the rift he had with his children. Mr. Plumb eventually died of strep infection before he had the chance to stand trial. The property now goes by the name of Heckscher State Park, and it's believed to be haunted with reports of sounds of horse along the trail when no horses are present. Others have reported the sense of someone watchin them as they walk the trail.
