Jackson’s Garden at Union College is said to be haunted by the ghost of a girl named Alice Van der Veer. Local legend states that Alice fell in love with a man of which her father did not approve, and to put a stop to their relationship the father killer her young lover. When word of the murder got out, an angry mob formed, capturing Alice and her father and burning them both alive in the Garden.
