Built in 1863 as the National Hotel, the Demarest Building was originally designed to help Warwick accommodate the influx of travelers who began passing through after the Warwick Valley Railroad was completed. Today it is an office complex which also house boutiques, shops, and restaurants. Visitors say that they can hear ghostly screams coming from the top of the building, but it is not known exactly who or what is haunting the Demarest.

We went to Fannies which is excellent . But when I walked to the bathroom and saw the Beauty of this Bldg . The gorgeous staircase and wood work !! I would love to take a tour . They sure don’t make things like they used too !!!

I lived there in one of the rooms upstairs in the early 1980's. At one time I also stayed in a top floor room. It was always very eerie, bad and dated there. There was a murder there in the 1980's of a woman who lived there!! LK
