Established in 1847, the City College of New York is the oldest of City University’s 24 institutions and was the first free public institution of higher education in the US. A number of ghosts have been spotted on campus, wearing clothing that dates from as far back as the early 20th century. A student who dies in 1918 has been spotted multiple times, and other apparitions in ‘60s and ‘70s outfits have manifested as well. More recently, students have reported a male spirit dressed in ‘90s Grunge-style clothing.
